appearance: A male teenager with nicely tanned skin and aquamarine eyes, Tommy's most salient feature is his pristine white hair. Cut short with center-parted bangs, they curly slightly into his face just above his defined brows; he has the kind of hair that you can run a hand through and it'll slide back into its former position as if it were untouched. Although not surprisingly tall for his age, he isn't short either, standing at roughly 5'9". Having a sharp jawline and rectangularish face, Tommy's features seem almost sculpted. He has a toned body, being the type to work out and keep fit.

Most often one would see Tommy wearing thickly-soled sneakers, standard faded jeans, and a white v-neck tee. The pale colors only make his skin intense eyes stand out more, but he likes that. For missions (or just to look cooler), he wears a dark-green bodysuit with tapering steel-colored stripes that cover his arms, run along his inner arm, down the side of his upper body, and inwardly across his thighs. Like most superhero tights, the suit makes him look unbelievably muscular for his age. He likes to say that he looks like a veteran Olympics athlete. To complete this save-the-world outfit are orange goggles which are attached to his face by the eye suctions, not an elastic band.

personality: Tommy would be the wise guy of the story. He mostly remains calm and would rather rely on witty comebacks than punches. Actually, witty comebacks first, then the punches. Suave for his age, Tommy could be a little nosy and presumptuous. Being somewhat of an orphan and an only-child, he never had anything to put before him; thus he is selfish to a certain extent. He has the mentality of needing to watch his own back, but Tommy does appreciate friendships--until they nag. Or something annoying. Common perception is that Tommy is obstinate, and they're on the right track but not on the bullseye. He's just a little inflexible.

He's pretty optimistic, but a realist. Tommy likes to joke around; his comedic medium irony. He also likes teh wimminz. He's a picky person though; he wouldn't go around and flirt with every "hot chick." He's attracted to mature, independent girls; that way, he doesn't need to watch over them (unless he wanted to).

abilities/weaponry: Thomas is a Speedster; that is, a being with superhuman speed. He inherited the powers of his uncle Quicksilver (see history). Tommy is so fast that he is able to destabalize the atoms of an object--living or non-living--to the point of explosion. He can do this by running or with hand motions. It might also seem to appear that he is bulletproof, but truthfully, he dodges them.

Although this might be his only skill, it is incredibely useful and versatile for most situations. What's more fun than adrenaline and things that go boom?

weaknesses: Sometimes a little too overconfident and eager, Tommy believes that he could always get the job done easily; he does not recognize his limits. He likes to lay his points down, even when he's fighting. This distracts him and would lead to a lack of defense. Rather important to know is that Tommy's powers are still in the raw stages. He might not be able to control his powers well and therefore cause "accidents."

history: Tommy was an ordinary People teenager that lived in New Jersey until he "accidentally" neutralized his school due to a power slip. Considered dangerous, the Power captured the teen shortly after and locked him away in a military facility to be tested on. Kept in secret were their experiments to build the boy into a human weapon, which worked. Mostly. His abilities were enhanced so that he could accelerate atoms to the point of bursting.

Like any person caged in an empty, silent, and unnervingly sterile room, Tommy wanted to get out. Thus, he simply used his abilities to blow a hole through the wall, but knowing their subject would try that, they put him in a special unit that can only be accessed from the outside. One night, he succeeded in escaping. The Young Avengers, a self-operated group of teenage superheroes, were searching for other possible avengers and had found him. So, sneaking into the facility he was isolated in, they tampered with the lock. That plus his constant hyperkinetic forces upon the door caused an explosion. One could already imagine the havoc wrought once he was out: alarms, smoke, bullets (which he dodged), helicopters... notwithstanding the opposition, Tommy fled with the Young Avengers, unscathed on top of that.

Acquainting himself with the group (during this time, he was given the codename "Speed"), he was constantly accused of looking exactly like one of the other members, Billy Kaplan (Wiccan). The strangeness of their similarities instigated an investigation. Shortly after, the Young Avengers discovered this: the Scarlet Witch, an ex-Avenger with a stained record, had been so desperate to have children that she used her reality-warping powers to conceive twin boys out of the soul of the demon Mephisto. However, Mephisto reabsorbed the souls, but in doing so it destroyed the demon and the souls were separated elsewhere. Billy theorized that the souls, upon dispersion, found their bodies to inhabit. Only a theory, but a possiblity. Tommy was highly speculative about it and chose to deny it, but it marked his conscience.

Well, another thing marking his conscience was that he was a runaway experiment. Thinking for himself, he ditched the Avengers and vanished.

No one would think that he'd take to the seas as a pirate.
